Abstract
This thesis summarizes the results of the qualitative analysis of the following herbal drugs, Anisi fructus, Foeniculi dulcis fructus, Carvi fructus and Coriandri fructus, as well as their essential oils which were isolated by hydrodistillation. The qualitative analysis of the above-mentioned herbal drugs was carried out by thin-layer chromatography, thus confirming the identity of the herbals drugs and their essential oils. According to the demands of the European Pharmacopoeia, the hydrodistillation method demonstrated insufficient essential oil content in all fruits with the exception of Coriandri fructus.
An overview of the preclinical and clinical studies on selected herbal drugs and their essential oils, as well as their toxicological properties, is also given in this thesis. The collected data give insight into the justified application and safety profile of the above-mentioned herbal drugs, as well as new possibilities of their application
