Estudio de los eventos deportivos: Desde un análisis histórico de los impactos hasta una perspectiva de aprovechamiento estratégico = Study of sports events: From the historical analysis of impacts to a strategic leveraging approach

Abstract

En este artículo pretendemos explicar el recorrido evolutivo de la línea de investigación centrada en el estudio de los eventos deportivos. Inicialmente, en los años 80 y 90, los estudios se enfocaban principalmente al análisis después del evento, del impacto que propiciaban en las ciudades y destinos que lo acogían. A la vuelta del siglo y como punto determinante en la organización de los Juegos Olímpicos de Sydney, hubo una evolución hacia un nuevo enfoque en los estudios. Aparece en la literatura una nueva perspectiva de investigación, con énfasis en la rentabilidad de los beneficios positivos de un evento. Este cuerpo de conocimiento, se basa en estudios cualitativos y analiza las estrategias más eficaces, como planearlas y como aprovecharlas para permitir que las comunidades de acogida puedan maximizar los beneficios de un evento. En este sentido, preconizamos que el aprovechamiento estratégico en la gestión de los eventos deportivos, puede contribuir a que el deporte sea un medio para mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas y la prosperidad de las comunidades.-------------------------------------------------------------In this article we explain the evolutionary path of the line of research that focuses on the study of sports events. Initially, 80¿s and 90¿s, studies have looked up mainly on the analysis, after the event, of the impacts that they provided in the host cities and destinations. At the turn of the century, and as a turning point in organizing the Olympic Games in Sydney, has evolved to a new approach to develope research. A new research focus appeared in the literature, with emphasis on leveraging the benefits of the event. This body of knowledge is based on qualitative studies and analyzes the most effective strategies, as well as how to plan them and exploit them to allow the host communities to maximize the benefits of an event. In this perspective, we advocate that the strategic leverage in the management of sporting events can contribute to use sports as a means to improve the quality of life of individuals and community development.Artículo revisado por pare
