Abstract

Panama, Chiriqui, Gualaca, Gualaca-Chiriqui Gande road, vicinity of Fortuna Dam, at junction of road to IRHE headquarters. LAT (8.45)N; LONG(82.18)W. ALT (1200). Terrestrial on steep bank, stems to 1.5 m; internodes 5-10 cm long, 4-7 cm diam., bluish green, glaucous; cataphylls glaucous, charply 2-ribbed, deciduous; petioles flattened laterally, rounded below, broadly rounded above, winged (sometimes indulate), glaucous; blades moderately coriaceous, dark green and glossy above, much paler bluish green and glucous below; midrib almost flat and much paler above, broadly convex and whitish below; primary lateral veins sunken above, convex and whitish below; minor veins moderately distinct beneath, inflorescences 4 per-axil; peduncle and spathe medium green, galucous, paler on blade; maroon within on tube suffused onto blade, axils of spadix reddish-violet
