This presentation is provided two main topics:
first, a review of the history of the role of Doctors
of the C hurch and how the discernment process
contributed to the development of the Church’s understanding
of this title, using the recent evaluation
(1997, 2012) and the conferral of the doctorate; secondly,
a careful and systematic evaluation of Newman’s
fulfillment of the Congregation for the D octrine
ofthe Faith’s Norms and Criteria was offered
based upon the commentaries of Pope John Paul II
and his successor Benedict XVI regarding Newman’s
eminent doctrine. The final part of the article
shows the possibility of Newman’s inclusion in
the exclusive college of the Doctores Ecclesiae. W niniejszej prezentacji zostały przedstawione
dwa główne wątki. Pierwszy z nich to przypomnienie
historii i znaczenia tytułu doktor Kościoła oraz
ukazanie aktualnego procesu honorowania tym tytułem.
Z kolei drugi wątek to ukazanie elementów
nauczania papieża Jana Pawła II oraz Benedykta
XVI (kard. J. Ratzingera), wskazujących na spełnienie
przez nauczanie kard. J.H. N ewmana Kryteriów
i Norm wyznaczonych przez Kongregację
Doktryny Wiary w procesie rozeznawania wybitności
nauczania kandydata do tytułu doktora Kościoła.
W końcowej części artykułu wskazano na
pewne wnioski co do możliwości inkluzji Newmana
do ekskluzywnego grona Doctores Ecclesisae
