This research aims to identify the main interests and professional preferences in 11th grade students of a public educational institution in the city of Armenia. In order to do so, a quantitative study of non-experimental and cross-sectional descriptive type was carried out through out the implementation of some instruments, such as the sociodemographic record and the application of the IPP-R psychometric test, that allowed to obtain information about each participant’s interests in a specific occupational field. According to the data found, students’ preferences are the fields: Sanitary and Scientific-Social / Humanities each one with 14.3%. On the other hand, the fields of least interest are Communication-information with 17.1% and the technical field with 14.3%. Furthermore, it was possible to identify that the fields of greatest interest for the female sex are the sanitary and the Scientific-Social / Humanities field, both with 20%. Similarly, the fields of greatest interest for the male sex are sports with 20% followed by the computer and technical field, both with 15%La presente investigación pretende identificar los principales intereses y preferencias profesionales en estudiantes de grado 11 de una institución educativa pública de la ciudad de Armenia. Para ello se realizó un estudio cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo no experimental y transversal, a través de la aplicación de la prueba psicométrica IPP-R, intereses y preferencias profesionales- revisado, con el fin de identificar el interés discriminado por campos ocupacionales en la población estudiantil. De acuerdo a los datos encontrados la preferencia de los estudiantes son los campos: sanitario y el científico-social/humanidades cada uno con un 14.3%. Los campos de menor interés son la comunicación-información con un 17.1% y el campo técnico con un 14.3%. A su vez, se logró identificar que los campos de mayor interés del sexo femenino corresponden al campo sanitario y el científico social-humanidades, ambos con una distribución similar equivalente al 20%.
