8th Annual Black Issues Conference,  We are America: Divided We Fall. Together We Stand Community Restoration: How is it obtained and what are the effects? Community degradation can occur due to de-industrialization, economic shifts, changes in demographics and consumption patterns, and other factors. The affected residents can allow their community to die or act to revitalize and restore their community. This session examines selective factors WE can influence during the community restoration process.  Promote and Increase Homeownership  Determinants to Home Ownership: Credit, Net Income, Race, Gender, Education, Parental Home Ownership, Age, and Marital Status.  Presentation will review and provide guidance on how to avoid the determinants of Home Ownership.   Community Development Get Involved  This section of presentation will break down and engage the audience in a discussion on the definition of Community Development: “Community itself engages in a process aimed at improving the social, economic and environmental situation of the community”     Benefits Stabilization of declining areas Increased property values Reduced vacancy rates Increased local fiscal revenues Increased social mix Rehabilitation of property both with and without state sponsorship    This section of presentation discusses the positives (and negative) of community restoration.
