Protocol biopsies are defined as biopsies performedin stable renal allograft recipients at fixed timepoints. Many papers describe subclinical lesionssuch as rejection, interstitial fibrosis tubular atrophyIF/TA, calcineurin toxicity, glomeruli pathologies orBK virus associated nephropathy. Nonetheless therole of protocol biopsies in clinical practice is stillunclear.
