Abstract

Protocol biopsies are defined as biopsies performedin stable renal allograft recipients at fixed timepoints. Many papers describe subclinical lesionssuch as rejection, interstitial fibrosis tubular atrophyIF/TA, calcineurin toxicity, glomeruli pathologies orBK virus associated nephropathy. Nonetheless therole of protocol biopsies in clinical practice is stillunclear. This review describes the significance ofpathological lesions in protocol biopsies accordingto the current state of the art
