The advances made in the 80s allowed China to catapult itself into the ranks of the ultra-advanced nations and the author feels that China is now on the threshold of becoming Asia\u27s hub. China\u27s ability to bring in the latest world technology and techniques to instantly transform the country into an ultra-advanced nation is indicative of the huge investments which socialist nations are capable of. Moreover, I get a very real feeling that only that which is new is accepted. In China the economic gap between urban and rural areas is often reported on, as it is in Japan.
