INTERNATIONALJOURNAL  OFFOREST  ENGINEERINGVOL. 17  NO. 2 JULY 2006ISSN 0843-5243A joint publication of the University of New Brunswick and Oregon State UniversityAddendum to Editor’s NotesEffective following publication of this issue, the International Journal of Forest Engineering will be published by theForest Products Society.A year ago, Oregon State University entered into an agreement with the University of New Brunswick that provided forcontinued publication of the Journal under the combined banner of Oregon State University and the University of NewBrunswick.  That arrangement was intended to provide a time buffer during which a more permanent home for the Journalcould be found.  I am pleased to announce with this insert that the Journal will henceforth be published by the ForestProducts Society.The Forest Engineering research and professional communities share a great deal with our colleagues in the ForestProducts end of the Forest Industry both in research and profession practice.  We are united in the business of the forestindustry, we desire complete raw material utilization, we see efficiency and safety as key elements in our respective workactivities, and we have a similar need to operate in an environmentally and socially acceptable manner.  That being said,Forest Engineering is unique and distinct enough that there is a definite need for the International Journal of ForestEngineering.  That has been proven by the last 17 years of publication of the Journal since it was started at the Universityof New Brunswick under the editorship of Professor Jeremy Rickards.At the present time, there are numerous details of the transition to the Forest Products Society that have yet to beworked out.
