Concordancia del biotipo facial con el patrón de crecimiento facial en mujeres y hombres

Abstract

Objective: To determine if the fa cial biotype and the pattern of facial growth agree in women and men. The study universe was 673 lateral radiographs of skull pretreatment of orthodontics. The sample was 100 radiographs of which 50 were of each sex. The average age in women was 13.7 years and in men 17.08 years. Ricketts VERT and Jarabak's facial height ratio were performed. The data was captured on the electronic record sheet and descriptive statistics were performed in the Microsoft Excel program. The Kappa test was performed in the calculator in Excel for the Kappa-Fisterra Index and the Student t tests were performed in the SPSS 19 program. Results: the mesofacial facial biotype was found in women 48% and in men with 44% the dolichofacial biotype. The average of VERT was -0.356 in women and in men of -0.31. The growth pattern 65.28% in men and women of 62.25%. The result of the Kappa index between the two analyzes was 0.37 in women and 0.16 in men. When comparing the VERT values of men and women, no significant differences were found. In the growth pattern there were significant differences. The average of the VERT was mesofacial in both sexes. The growth pattern   was mesodivergent in women and hypodivergent in men. There is no relationship in the results of one method compared to the other. Significant statistical differences were found in the ratio of facial height between both sexes.Objetivo: Determinar si el biotipo facial y el patrón de crecimiento facial concuerdan en mujeres y hombres.  El universo de estudio fueron 673 radiografías laterales de cráneo pretratamiento de ortodoncia. La muestra fue de 100 radiografías de las cuales 50 eran de cada sexo. El promedio de edad en mujeres fue de 13.7 años y en hombres de 17.08 años. Se realizó el VERT de Ricketts y el ratio de altura facial de Jarabak. Se realizó la estadística descriptiva en el programa Excel de Microsoft, la  prueba de Kappa se realizó en la calculadora en Excel para el Índice de Kappa-Fisterra y las pruebas de t de Student se realizaron en el programa SPSS 19. Resultados: Se encontró en mujeres el 48% el biotipo facial mesofacial y, en hombres, con un 44% el biotipo dolicofacial. El promedio del VERT fue de -0.356 en mujeres y en hombres de -0.31. El patrón de crecimiento fue 65.28% en hombres; y en mujeres, de 62.25. El resultado del índice de Kappa entre los dos análisis fue de 0.37 en mujeres y  0.16, en hombres. Al comparar los valores del VERT de hombres y mujeres, no se encontraron diferencias significativas. En el patrón de crecimiento, sí existieron diferencias significativas.El promedio del VERT fue mesofacial en ambos sexos. El patrón de crecimiento fue mesodivergente en mujeres e hipodivergente en hombres. No existe relación en los resultados de un método comparado con el otro. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticas significativas en el ratio de altura facial entre ambos sexos
