Penentuan Guru Yang Baik Berdasarkan Kepada Faktor Latar Belakang Guru

Abstract

This study wished to determine that good teachers are difference based on teachers’ background factors. This study was also undertaken to find out any significant differences between the male and the female teachers towards good teacher based on their background factors those are SPM grades, mothers’ education levels and place of origin. In addition, the study planned to find out any significant differences among the male and the female teachers who come from town area and rural area towards good teacher based on the SPM grades they obtained. The dependent variable in this study is good teacher, consisted of three components those are teachers’ effectiveness, teachers’ personality and, teachers’ social and professional responsibilities. The independent variables are background factors such as gender, SPM grade, fathers’ occupation and etc. A total of 126 college-trainned teachers from a certain primary and secondary schools in Segamat, Johor are selected as the respondents. The instrument used in this study was self-constructed questionnaire. Based on all the background factors that were individually analyzed, it was found that only mothers’ education levels had a significant difference towards good teacher. The significant difference only occured among the female teachers. Among the female teachers who come from the rural areas there was significant difference between SPM grades. Among the male teachers, there were no significant difference towards good teacher on all of the selected background factors
