Abstract

The outpatient clinic of Higashi-Nippon-Gakuen University School of Dentistry was opened in December, 1978 and the inpatient division was established in June, 1980. The total number of inpatients was 290 and that of outpatients was 3117 up till May, 1985. Clinical and statistical observations of inpatients over the past 5 years was analysed. The number of inpatients shouted a yearly increase up till 1983. The distribution of diseases of the inpatients is as follows : Cyst disorders (60cases ; 20.7%), tumors (58 cases ; 20.1%), facial malformations and jaw deformities (46 cases ; 15.9%), inflammatory cases (19 cases ; 6%), atroqhic alveolar ridges (14 cases ; 4.8%), traumata (25 cases ; 8.6%), and others (56 cases ; 17.9%). It is concluded that number of cystic and tumor diseases accounted for a large percentage of the total number of inpatients
