El artículo busca rastrear cómo los denominados Estudios Visuales responden a la pregunta por las formas de concebir y experimentar la visualidad actualmente, al plantear la necesidad de abrir los campos teóricos tradicionales en donde lo visual y en general lo perceptivo tiende a ser reprimido dentro de los procesos analíticos, olvidando que desde allí se pueden encontrar formas de pensamiento que no habían sido estudiadas ni tenidas en cuenta, sino ligadas a un restringido campo de conocimiento asociado por mucho tiempo exclusivamente con la historia del arte y la estética. Para el caso de la imagen electrónica se sugiere desplazar la reflexión hacia la producción de significados culturales a través de lo visual, analizando los procesos de subjetivación y socialización que las visualidades contemporáneas propician.This presentation tried to find how the so called Visual Studies deal with the issue of the new forms of visual conception and which are the possibilities offered by these changes, when they suggest the necessity of opening the traditional theoretical fields, in which the visual and, in general, the perceptual are constrained within the analytical process, forgetting that from the visual viewpoint it is possible to find ways of thinking that have not been studied nor taken into account, but have been linked for a long time to a restricted field of knowledge associated only with art history and aesthetic. If seeing is an act, because it is the result of a cultural construction, the analysis of culture necessarily must include the analysis of the images produced by this culture.Facultad de Periodismo y Comunicación Socia
