The percentage of the most favorable supplement level in the behavior and consumption of hay was evaluated in stable lambs. Different percentages (30, 45, 60 and 75%) of a protein supplement that included soy flour and chicken manure were supplied, in a PV: NNP ratio of 50:46, where 100%, covered the PB requirements (N x 6.25) for a gain of 120g / animal / day according to Kearl (1982), and a witness who consumed only hay. 30 Pelibuey vermilion lambs with 15.2 ± 0.2 kg of live weight were used in a completely random design, fed with the supplement and hay at will at a rate of 1.4kg / animal / day of Bermuda Crusade (coast cross), water and mineral salts, supplied during the hours of 8: am and 4: pm according to treatment. Live weight gains were 83, 93, 103 and 107 g / animal / day respectively. There was a linear increase in weight by increasing the level of supplementation as well as the total consumption of MS 73.4; 84.3; 96.0 and 103.7 (g / kg. PV 0.75). The highest consumption and the best rate of hay consumption corresponded to the level of 60% and those of supplement, MS, PB, MS, fiber and easily degradable carbohydrates corresponded to the level of 75%. The weight of 15.2 ± 0.2 kg seems appropriate to initiate this type of fattening, since in the supplemented animals GMD values greater than 100g / animal / day are reached. The low levels of hay consumption are determined by its high FB content, so it is not recommended as a basic diet for this weight.
