Exponentes del Movimiento Moderno en el centro histórico de Camagüey, un valioso patrimonio a conservar

Abstract

The historical center of Camagüey was inscribed in the list of the World Patrimony by UNESCO on 2008, on account of having a conserved urban complex; where some important architectural exponents of passed centuries, which are admirable, maintain the traditional atmosphere inside this area of the city. Inside this area, some residential representatives of the modern architecture exist, as a rupture inside the traditional urban scenery, because they were not adapted to their environment, but, nevertheless, they   constitute important milestones of the architecture of their time. We must mention, among them, those buildings of apartments, which were built in the decade of 1950 and are located in the historical center of Camagüey. Nowadays it is necessary the recognition of their values, for their conservation and to bequeath to the future generations this important patrimony, a point of reference for new environmental and space solutions.El centro histórico de Camagüey fue inscrito en la lista del Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO en el 2008, por contar con una trama urbana conservada y con importantes exponentes arquitectónicos dignos de admirar, de siglos pasados, que ayudan a mantener el ambiente tradicional de esta zona de la ciudad. Dentro del repertorio habitacional existen inmuebles representativos de la arquitectura moderna, que marcaron una ruptura en la trama urbana tradicional y no se adecuaron a su entorno, pero no dejan de constituir referentes importantes de la arquitectura de su época. Entre ellos se encuentran edificios de apartamentos del Movimiento Moderno, localizados en el centro histórico de Camagüey, que fueron construidos en la década de 1950. Hoy día resulta necesario el reconocimiento de sus valores, con vistas a conservarlos, para legar a las futuras generaciones tan importante patrimonio, que es un referente por sus soluciones ambientales y espaciales
