Abstract: the present work discusses the militarization of the public school in the state of Tocantins, therefore, on the origin of the military school in Palmas. In order to do so, it takes historical record of the emergence of prussianism in the early of modernity and how this model is established in Brazil. Specifically, it objectives to understand the justifications for the implementation of the Tocantins military school. This way, the methodology used is oral history, which here assumes elementary role for the emergence of new information, confrontation with written history and reflexivity with the theories established there. The results are not closed in these writings, but, in fact opens possibilities of analysis for future writings. Resumo: o presente trabalho disserta sobre a militarização da escola pública no estado do Tocantins, portanto, e, por conseguinte, sobre a origem do colégio militar em Palmas. Para isso, faz apanhado histórico do surgimento do militarismo, ainda nos primórdios da modernidade, e como esse modelo é instituído no Brasil. Especificamente tem como objetivo entender as justificativas para implantação do colégio militar do Tocantins. Portanto, a metodologia utilizada é a história oral, que aqui assume papel elementar para surgimento de novos dados, confronto com a história escrita e reflexividade com as teorias aí estabelecidas. Os resultados não se fecham nestes escritos, mas na verdade abre um leque de análise para escritos futuros.
