Most of her colleagues and students would agree without a doubt that she was a brilliant teacher and a good friend. She left behind a legacy in the field of education with her inspirational and thought-provoking teaching style and a multitude of scholarly publications. On her character, she is well remembered as a warm and inspiring professor. Loved by all, she was truly dedicated to her students and her job. Many scholars who have known her have been inspired by her scholarship especially in the area of Lesson Study. Those who have worked with Professor Lim or did their postgraduate studies under her supervision will always remember her as a loving mother and caring sister.  Diligent and trustworthy, she would make sure that all tasks given to her are managed well. She was willing to spend extra hours and even walked the extra mile with her students in their journey to complete their studies. On the collaboration of research projects, many of us will always treasure the moments of delightful discussions and the hearty laugh that shattered the weekend silence in the mathematics lab. We will pass on the legacy by telling others stories about this wonderful professor that we have once met. Former students and colleagues pay tribute to Professor Lim Chap Sam below:                                                                                                       Kor, Ghazali, Chew & Lee p.5  Prof. Lim Chap Sam has been a great supervisor and a mentor to her students. Her strict demeanour and dedication towards research have shaped and moulded the students towards high expectations and achievements. Her endless support and encouragement have made many of us succeed in our PhD, which we could never imagine possible. There is no word to express our sincere appreciation to her for her valuable and tireless guidance. Some of the best memories of our lives were those spent with her. You will be deeply missed, Professor Lim Chap Sam. Betsy Lee  Lim Chap Sam was a Professor in Mathematics Education at the Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. She obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. She taught mathematics education courses and qualitative research method courses at undergraduate and graduate levels at the School of Educational Studies, USM. Her research interests focused on public images of mathematics, teaching mathematics in second language, cross-cultural study and particularly Lesson Study as a professional development for mathematics teachers. She was an active collaborator of several international research projects especially on Lesson Study and cross-cultural comparative study of mathematics teaching and learning in schools. Her latest publications include (1) as one of the co-editors of the book entitled, ‘The First Sourcebook on Asian Research in Mathematics Education: China, Korea, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and India’ which was published in 2015; and (2) as the main editor of the book entitled, Mathematics Education from an Asian Perspective (Contemporary Research and Practice Series) which will be published by USM Press in 2019. Cheng Meng Chew                                                                                                     TME, vol. 17, no.1, p. 6                                                  Prof Lim Chap Sam will be remembered as a colleague and a friend to me and my colleagues as well as a firm but kind teacher to her students at the School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia.  Chap Sam inspired us to engage and connect with other colleagues in Mathematics Education through her tireless effort connecting us through conferences, seminars and collaborating to write journal articles in areas of our research interest.  In fact, together with Prof Bharath Sriraman, Chap Sam edited a book on mathematics education research in Asian countries with contributions from majority of the mathematics education community in Malaysia and also other Asian countries.  Her energy and enthusiasm was exemplary and we will always miss her smile and patience with us to complete these endeavors.          Munirah Ghazali  Chap Sam Lim, a beloved colleague and friend whose dedication to family, friends and colleagues was something I witnessed firsthand on two occasions in Penang. Even though she was suffering from cancer, she persevered through the pain to help her graduate students and many colleagues advance themselves in mathematics education research. I will remember her enthusiasm, wit and her ability to laugh at adversity. She will be sorely missed by me. This special issue of my journal is dedicated to her- she will not be forgotten.
