Dennison signed the American College and University 10 Presidents’ Climate Commitment in 2007, committing The University of Montana (UM) 11 to develop an institutional climate action plan to become climate neutral;     12  13 Whereas, The University of Montana’s 2010 Climate Action Plan sets forth the ambitious 14 goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2020; 15  16 Whereas, The University of Montana sustainability offices and Climate Change Studies 17 Program hosted Campus Climate Conversations (AY 2012/13) that highlighted the 18 interest of students in seeing increased coverage of sustainability topics in the curricula 19 and design of courses at the University;  20  21 Whereas, the Green Teaching Program has been reviewed and endorsed by the 22 Sustainable Campus Committee (SCC); 23  24 Whereas, the Green Teaching Program compliments the goals and achievements of the 25 Green Thread Initiative, the annual spring workshop for UM and non-UM faculty that 26 encourages the integration of sustainability concepts into curricula across campus, 27 through its emphasis on non-curricular aspects such as reducing waste and utilizing 28 online content; 29  30 Therefore, Let It Be Resolved, that The Associated Students of The University of 31 Montana (ASUM) endorses and supports implementation of the Green Teaching Program 32 by all interested faculty on The University of Montana campus; 33  34 Therefore, Let It Be Further Resolved, that The Associated Students of The University of 35 Montana (ASUM) encourages The University of Montana Faculty Senate to support this 36 program by sharing it across campus and encouraging faculty to complete the program 37 questionnaire. 38  39 Passed by Committee: January 27, 2014 40  41 Passed by ASUM Senate: January 29, 2014 42  43  44 _____________________________  __________________________________ 45 Jan Roddy,     Mariah Williams, 46 Relations and Affairs Chair   Chair of the Senate 47
