Syllabus AHRC 133 Respiratory Care Pharmacology  (Sect: 50, 32426, Spring 2016) Instructor: Mary McHugh, Pharm.D., R.Ph. Contact Info: mary.mchugh@umontana.edu                      Required Textbook:  Rau’s Respiratory Care Pharmacology 9th edition                   ISBN: 9780323299688, Copyright: 2016 Also available as an eBook: https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/product/9780323299718?role=student   This is an online course with emphasis on the medications you will be administering to patients and medications you will see used for critical care patients.  Some memorization is required, which can be challenging to assess in online testing; there will be some timed tests, and if needed, in-class tests.  For timed tests, be sure to use a computer with good internet connections at a time and place where you will not be interrupted.  As questions arise over the material in general, it is best to discuss in Moodle forums, so that I can help out with the answers if needed. This course is in “Lesson” format, where you will be expected to:  Review the Learning Goals in each Moodle  lesson  Read the Lesson Notes added in Moodle to augment the text information  Read the associated chapter in the text book  Use the Self-Assessment Exercises at the end of each chapter  THEN proceed to the Lesson Quiz (most are 10-20 questions) o You must answer the question correctly to proceed to the next question (for multiple choice and T/F)  You will be prompted to keep trying if you do not answer correctly unless it is a question that must be individually scored such as short answer or essay o Your score is based upon the average of your attempts, so if you get it right on the first attempt you receive the full points This is the first session of this online course, so your feedback is much appreciated regarding all aspects: misspellings, lessons that don’t work the way they should, or any other topic you would like me to know about.   GRADING SCALE: A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 F 0-59      Weighting of Grades: Lesson Questions 30% Discussions 5% Assignments 5% Unit Tests 30% Final Exam 30%        Students in Respiratory Care program must have a “B-“final grade in order to progress within the program.  Test questions will be based on the learning objectives posted in each Moodle lesson. Learning objectives are to be used as study guides. Academic Integrity: All students must practice academic honesty.  Academic misconduct is subject to an academic penalty by the course instructor and/or a disciplinary sanction by The University.  All students need to be familiar with the Student Conduct Code.
