Principles of homeland areas within Croatian language classes, from first to fourth grade of primary school

Abstract

Središnje mjesto u ovome radu zauzima načelo zavičajnosti u nastavi Hrvatskoga jezika. Svrha je diplomskoga rada istražiti pojavnost načela zavičajnosti u propisanim nastavnim sredstvima za hrvatski jezik od prvoga do četvrtoga razreda osnovne škole, ispitati stavove učitelja o provedbi ovoga načela u nastavi i realizaciju istog te upoznati odnos učenika i zavičajnoga govora. Prvi dio istraživanja temelji se na analizi 24 propisana udžbenika i popratnih nastavnih sredstava hrvatskoga jezika, dok je drugi dio istraživanja proveden metodom ankete na uzorku (N=52) učiteljica razredne nastave u pet osnovnih škola u Slavonskome Brodu. Analizom rezultata potvrđene su temeljne hipoteze istraživanja, a koje glase: zanemarivo mala zastupljenost načela zavičajnosti u analiziranim nastavnim sredstvima kao i u temeljnim školskim dokumentima te rijetka provedba nastavnih sadržaja zavičajne tematike u nastavi Hrvatskoga jezika od prvoga do četvrtoga razreda osnovne škole.At this paper’s core is the principle of indigenisation in the teaching of the Croatian language. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the extent of the principle of indigenisation in the prescribed educational means for the Croatian language from the first to the fourth grade of elementary school, to survey the attitudes of teachers on the implementation of this principle in teaching and its execution and to familiarise with the students’ attitude to the native language. The first part of the research is based on an analysis of 24 prescribed textbooks and accompanying aids used in teaching the Croatian language, while the second part of the research was carried out by the method of surveying the sample (N = 52) of school teachers in five elementary schools in Slavonski Brod. The analysis results confirmed the basic hypothesis of the research, which reads: negligibly small representation of the principle of indigenisation in the analysed teaching materials as well as in basic school documents, as well as rare implementation of native educational content themes in the teaching of the Croatian language from the first to the fourth grade
