The most popular picture books in the Republic of Croatia in the period from 2013 to 2018

Abstract

Smatra se da je slikovnica prva i najvažnija knjiga u djetetovom životu, pa se njenim čitanjem utječe na socijalni i emocionalni razvoj djeteta. U poglavljima je opisana povijest slikovnice, njena definicija, te važnost uloge i utjecaja slikovnice na cjelokupni razvoj djeteta. Važnu ulogu u upoznavanju djeteta sa čitanjem i prvom knjigom osim kućne okoline ima i djetetov odgojitelj i sama vrtićka ustanova. U istraživačkom dijelu rada navedeni su tablični prikazi najčitanijih slikovnica u Republici Hrvatskoj u periodu od pet proteklih godina.A picture book is consider to be the first and most important book in a child`s life, so its reading affects the social and emotional development of the child. The chapters describe the history of the picture book, its definition, and the importance of the role and impact of the picture book on the child`s overall development. In addition to the home environment, the child`s educator and the kindergarten itself play an important role in familiarizing the child with reading and the first book. In the research part of this paper, table representations of the most read picture books in the Republic of Croatia over the past five years are listed
