The social aspect of maritime transportation impacts - the example of city of Supetar

Abstract

Promet je jedan od osnovnih čimbenika povezanosti nekog prostora. Kvaliteta povezanosti snaţno utječe na mobilnost ljudi, pogotovo otočana kojima je povezanost presudna za normalno ţivotno funkcioniranje. Stanovništvo grada Supetra se svakodnevno suočava s problemima trajektnog povezivanja sa Splitom. Najviše poteškoća imaju mladi i radno aktivno stanovništvo koji svakodnevno putuju u Split u školu odnosno na posao. Najveći problem predstavlja nedostatak katamarana, ali i otočne tarife za automobile koje bi trebale biti manje. Veliki teret su i ogromne sezonske automobilske guţve koje ugroţavaju kvalitetu turizma, kako Supetra, tako i cijelog Brača.Transportation is one of the basic factors of connecting the space. The quality of connectivity strongly influences the mobility of people, especially the islanders, whose connectivity is crucial for their normal functioning. The population of city of Supetar daily faces the problems of ferry connections to Split. The most difficulties are experienced by the young and working-age population who travel daily to Split for school or work. The biggest problem is the lack of catamarans, but also island tariffs for cars that should be less. A huge burden is also a huge seasonal traffic jams that threaten the quality of tourism of Supetar as well as the whole island of Brač
