Achieving a balance between exploration and exploitation in service firms: A longitudinal study

Abstract

Whereas ambidexterity is frequently associated with simultaneous exploration and exploitation, others concluded that exploration and exploitation can also be achieved by a punctuated equilibrium. Drawing on longitudinal data of 532 firms, we show that ambidexterity and punctuated equilibrium have a positive effect on firm performance in manufacturing and service firms.status: publishe
