Materializing learning objects with SCORM specifications

Abstract

International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications (ICCSA 2008) -- JUN 30-JUL 03, 2008 -- Perugia, ITALYWOS: 000257310900039New ideas and tools facilitate our lives. The usage of computer and Internet technology in education has become one of the important issue these days. Learning mentality is changing with the help of technology and networks. Using digital materials makes our presentation more successful, but finding materials is a big problem. What specifications does a learning material have? How do we promote a learning object specialty? These are the questions firstly considered. We prepare a number of learning objects with SCORM specifications. Materials were prepared with Adobe Captivate 3.0 program. They were used in a lecture named Instructional Technology in Education. 23 students took part in both test groups and control groups. An experimental investigation was done with quantitative and qualitative data. A practice quiz made at the beginning and at the end of the experiment. Also students did an evaluation scale every lesson. In the end, an interview was carried out with the test group.Univ Perugia, Univ Calgary, Innovat Computat Sci Applicat, MAXSTER UP, Univ Calgary, SPARCS Lab, OptimaNumeric
