Abstract

Not AvailableIn the present communication induced spawning of a freshwater zipper loach Acanthocobitis botia were successfully conducted using commercially available synthetic ovaprim and fecundity was studied. The brooder females were injected and left to spawn in the glass aquarium tank. The egg output/g female were higher with the dosage of 0.25 mL in comparison to 0.1 mL/kg of body weight of ovaprim. The present study suggests that ovaprim @ 0.25mL/kg body weight of fish is more effective in induction of spawning of A. botia. No spawning was observed by females in control set. The spawning time, fertilization rate, hatching rate, and survival rate were quantified in each set of experiment. Not Availabl
