Tartışmacı metin, düşünceyi geliştirme yollarını kullanarak yazarın bir konu hakkında verileriyle beraber öne sürdüğü iddiasını destekleyip karşı iddia ve iddiaları çürütmeye çalıştığı ve bunlarla konuyu sonuca bağladığı metin türüdür. Bu çalışmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin tartışmacı metin birimlerini oluşturma ile ilgili sorunlarını örneklerden yola çıkarak ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma, Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi’nin farklı fakülte ve bölümlerinde öğrenim gören birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin yazdığı tartışmacı metinler üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada ölçme aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen “Tartışmacı Metin Yazma Formu” ve “Tartışmacı Metin Birimleri Sorun Envanteri” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre “veri” ve “iddia” ile ilgili 6 tür sorun; “karşı iddia” ile ilgili 3 ve “sonuç” ile ilgili 4 tür sorun ve bu sorunların sıklık düzeyleri belirlenmiştir. Üniversite öğrencilerinin veri ( X = 0.93) ve karşı iddia ( X = 0.77) birimleri ile ilgili daha çok sorunlar yaşadıkları, iddia ve sonuç birimlerini oluşturmada daha başarılı oldukları belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin metinlerinde gereksiz tekrar ( X = 0.21) ve ilgisiz birimlere ( X = 0.01) de yer verildiği görülmektedir.Argumentative text is a kind of text by which a writer supports his claims that he puts forward about a subject with its data by using the ways of improving thinking and tries to refute the opposite claims and connects the subject to an result with these . The aim of the study is to reveal based on sample text problems related to creating text units in argumentative texts of university students. Research were occur 1 th grade students on written argumentative texts at different faculties and departments of Mustafa Kemal University. In the study, was used to “Argumantative Writing Text Form” and "Argumentative Text Elements Problem Inventory" that developed by researchers. According to result of the study, 6 problems related to data and claim; 3 problems rela ted to the counter claim and 4 problems related to the result and the frequencies of these problems were determined. According to result of research, were determined that university students' problems related to data ( X = 0.93) and claim against ( X = 0.77), were more successfull claim and result units creating. Result of unnecessary repeats and irrelevant units are ( X = 0.21) and ( X = 0.01)
