Duboko nas je rastuæila vijest da je 29. listopada2013. godine umro u 81. godini æivota prim. dr.Vladimir Sjerobabski. Primarijus Sjerobabskiumro je u Koronarnoj jedinici Zavoda za kardiologijuKliniËkog bolniËkog centra Sestre milosrdnice u Zagre-bu, koronarnoj jedinici koju je osnovao i vodio tridesetgodina, sve do umirovljenja, u bolnici koja mu je biladrugi dom i koju je toliko volio. Umro je izvanredan lijeË-nik, intelektualac, erudit, isku-sni uËitelj i humanist, a prijesvega omiljen kolega i nada-sve dobar Ëovjek, izvrstan su-prug, otac i djed.Prim. dr. Vladimir Sjerobabskiroen je 12. sijeËnja 1933. go-dine u FeketiÊu. Diplomirao jena Medicinskom fakultetu Sve-uËiliπta u Zagrebu 1959. go-dine. Staæ je obavio i radiokao sekundarac u OpÊoj bol-nici Vinkovci, 1962. je radiokao lijeËnik opÊe medicine uindustrijskoj ambulanti “Boro-vo”, a 1963. godine je bio up-ravitelj zdravstvene staniceBorovo. Internu medicinu jespecijalizirao od 1965. do1969. na KBC Rebro, 1969. jepoloæio specijalistiËki ispit, aod 1970. godine radi kao spe-cijalist interne medicine u Kli-nici za unutraπnje bolesti ta-daπnje KliniËke bolnice “Dr. Mladen StojanoviÊ”, odnos-no KBC Sestre milosrdnice u Zagrebu. Bio je voditeljprve koronorarne jedinice u Hrvatskoj od osnutka 1970.godine, a od 1976. do odlaska u mirovinu bio je i πefOdjela intenzivne koronarne skrbi. Subspecijalzirao jekardiologiju i intenzivnu medicinu. Bavio se ritmologi-jom i meu prvima implantirao elektrostimulatore srcau bivπoj dræavi. U KBC Sestre milosrdnice proveo jecjelokupan specijalistiËki staæ, radio je u njoj tri deset-ljeÊa i ostavio u njoj neizbrisivi trag. Usavrπavao se unekoliko navrata u NjemaËkoj, u Klinici Grosshadern uMünchenu i u Klinici u Düsseldorfu.Primarijus Sjerobabski nesebiËno je desetljeÊim educi-rao generacije mladih lijeËnika iz cijele Hrvatske. Bio jevrlo aktivan u Hrvatskom kardioloπkom druπtvu, Ëiji jebio tajnik u dva mandata. Bio je istaknuti Ëlan Hrvat-skog lijeËniËkog zbora, Hrvatskog internistiËkog dru-πtva, Hrvatskog druπtva za intenzivnu medicinu,Europskog kardioloπkog druπtva i Akademije medicin-skih znanosti Hrvatske. Bio je struËni savjetnik za kar-diologiju u tijeku planiranja SveuËiliπne bolnice Blato,We are deeply saddened by the news that Mr.Vladimir Sjerobabski, MD, Head Doctor diedon 29 October 2013 at the age of 81. Sje-robabski, MD, Head Doctor died in the Coronary Unitof the Department of Cardiology, University HospitalCentre Sestre milosrdnice, Zagreb, the coronary unitfounded and led by him for thirty years until he retired,the hospital, which was his second home and that heloved so much. He was anoutstanding physician, intel-lectual, erudite, an experien-ced teacher and a humanist,and above all beloved collea-gue and a good man, a greathusband, father and grandfa-ther. Vladimir Sjerobabski, MD,Head Doctor was born on 12January 1933 in FeketiÊ. Hegraduated from the School ofMedicine of the University ofZagreb in 1959. He did an in-ternship and worked as a se-condary care physician in theVinkovci General Hospital. In1962 he worked as a generalpractitioner in the industrialOutpatient clinic “Borovo”,and in 1963 he was the Headof the Borovo medical depart-ment. He specialized in inter-nal medicine from 1965 to1969 at the University Hospital Centre Rebro, in 1969he passed the specialty exam and since 1970 he wor-ked as an internal medicine specialist in the Clinic ofInternal Diseases of the formerly called hospital “Dr.Mladen StojanoviÊ” or the University Hospital CentreSestre milosrdnice, Zagreb. He was the Head of thefirst coronary unit in Croatia since its establishment in1970, and from 1976 till his retirement he was also theHead of the Intensive Coronary Care Department. Hesubspecialized in cardiology and intensive medicine.He engaged in rhythmology and was one of the firstdoctors that implanted pacemakers in the former state.He did the entire residency program at the UniversityHospital Centre Sestre milosrdnice, he worked threedecades there and left an indelible mark in it. He at-tended training courses for several times in Germany,the University Clinic Grosshadern in Munich and theClinic in Dusseldorf.Sjerobabski, Head Doctor unselfishly trained and edu-cated many generations of young physicians from thewhole of Croatia for decades. Safara o kardiopulmonal-noj reanimaciji. Autor i je i koautor 70 radova, od kojihje 14 indeksiranih.Bio je veliki struËnjak, ali vrlo skroman, jednostavan ipristupaËan Ëovjek, vedre i blage naravi, samozatajan.Bio je izvrstan lijeËnik, cijenjen meu kolegama i voljenod strane pacijenata kojima je cijeli æivot maksimalnopomagao. NesebiËno je dijelio svoje znanje s mlaimkolegama. Bolnica je bila njegov drugi dom, a kardi-ologija strast. Bio je idealist, lijeËnik i humanist u pra-vom smislu te rijeËi. Nije se bojao teπkih odluka i sprem-no je preuzimao odgovornost. Tijekom cijele karijere jeizbjegavao sukobe, nikom nije uËinio niπta naæao i uvi-jek je mogao svima pogledati u oËi. Voljeli su ga i ko-lege i medicinsko osoblje i pacijenti i svi Êemo ga seuvijek sjeÊati samo po dobrom, kao sjajnog lijeËnika ikao iznimnog Ëovjeka. Iako mu je bolnica bila drugidom i iako je bio veliki radnik zbog Ëega je zasigurnopatila i njegova obitelj, primarijus Sjerobabski je bio do-bar i odan muæ, otac i djed i iza sebe je ostavio dragusuprugu –uru, kÊerku Ines i unuke Taru i Grgu.Svojim iznimnim ljudskim osobinama i samoprijegor-nim radom zaduæio je sve nas, njegove mlae kolege,njegovu bolnicu, sredinu u kojoj je dugo i uspjeπno radioi struku koju je gradio, grad Zagreb i Hrvatsku. TrajnoÊemo ga se sjeÊati s iskrenom i dubokom zahvalnoπÊu.Croatian Cardiac Society and held an office of a secre-tary for two terms. He was a prominent member of theCroatian Medical Association, Croatian Society of In-ternal Doctors, Croatian Society of Intensive Medicine,European Society of Cardiologists and Academy ofMedical Sciences. He was an expert consultant for car-diology at the stage of planning the University HospitalBlato, an organizer of courses in cardiopulmonary re-suscitation, translated and edited a book of Dr. Safarabout cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was the aut-hor and has co-author of 70 papers, of which 14 inde-xed papers.He was a great expert, but very modest, simple and ac-cessible man, well-tempered and mild-mannered, self-effacing. He was an excellent physician, respectedamong his colleagues and beloved by patients whomhe helped maximally all his life. He generously sharedhis knowledge with younger colleagues. The hospitalwas his second home, and cardiology was his passion.He was an idealist, a physician and humanist in thetruest sense of the word. He was not afraid of makinghard decisions and readily took on responsibilities.Throughout his whole career he avoided conflicts, didno harm to anybody and could always look everybodyinto the eyes. He was loved by his colleagues, medicalstaff and patients, and we shall always remember himonly by his good deeds, as a brilliant physician and aremarkable man. Although his hospital was his secondhome, and although he was a great worker for whichhis family must have suffered, Sjerobabski, Head Doc-tor, was a good and loyal husband, father and grandfa-ther, and he left behind a dear wife –ura, his daugh-ter Ines and grandchildren Tara and Grga.His exceptional human qualities and self-sacrificingwork made all of us, his younger colleagues, his hospi-tal, the environment where he was long and success-fully building his career, the city of Zagreb and Croatiaindebted to him.
