Abstract

Modeling is the conventional teaching material used in junior high school fine arts classes and students’ hands are usually used as motifs. However, it is questionable if teachers truly understand the method and the reasons of using these motifs. This paper tries to clarify the educational purpose of modeling as a figurative expression and deepen the understanding of it for the teachers. It especially focuses on the orthodox teaching material “jikazuke” which has been used in modeling classes. This paper aims to be used as a basic reference book for junior high school fine arts teachers who make the lesson plans
