Abstract
The object of this analysis is a tram terminal, which is one of the main elements of
the public transport system. The results of traffic counts have been used to describe
the arriving and starting process of trams. If all of the tracks in the terminal are
occupied the arriving trams queue on the open track in front of the terminal and
they must wait. This problem results in low public transport quality. The tram
terminal station is examined as a service system. The terminal process of trams is
modelled with the help of queueing theory. Proposals have been worked out to
increase the service quality in this terminal station
