Abstract

The paper responds to the current situation of building a university counselling service center for students with special needs. It reflects the perspective of an interdisciplinary advisory team APUPA and Department of services to handicapped students at the University of Pardubice.The paper is based on the analysis of data collected by APUPA and Department of services to handicapped at the University of Pardubice. The aim of this paper is:1) To analyse the system of advice, support and assistance to students with special needs, which is implemented at the University of Pardubice?2) Suggest a diagram of internal support system for students with special needs including individual advice and special support. 3) To justify the real psychosocial, educational, economic or technical needs of students. An important factor is the individuality of the students with special needs. The results suggest that psychosocial, educational, economic or technical needs of student with special needs are evident. This article also shows that the number of records of the use of specific services provided at the university is significantly increasing.Inclusion the students with special needs to Master’s Studies lead to equalization of educational opportunities. The number of students (and applicants) with special needs is, inter alia, an indicator of the quality of high school. These trends are implemented also at the University of Pardubice.The need to participate in the removal of technical, social, information and human barriers in an academic environment is the common goal of interdisciplinary advisory team UPa workers
