Research Question
What organizational factors influence the building of collaborative culture in U.S. corporations?
Conceptual Framework & Propositions
Evidence-Based Research Synthesis (EBRS) is the
primary research method employed to select
literature for analysis and to help explore both the
research question and the propositions. A systematic review of the evidence provides a step toward
establishing science-based conclusions about
management problems. Configuration is the synthesis option employed for this study whereby the findings were meshed into a theoretical model. This method is appropriate because the study integrates both qualitative and quantitative findings (Gough et al (2012), Sandelowski (2008), Denyer, Tranfield and
van Aken (2008); Pope et al (2007)).

Conclusions: Significance of factors
Implications for Management/Future Research
Organizations should understand the importance of evaluating
organizational factors prior to establishing collaboration as a
strategic focus. An area of future research could assist
organizations with measuring potential for collaboration as well
as articulating rules on when organizations should collaborate.
Proposition 1: Organizational trust is a factor that facilitates collaboration and helps the building of a collaborative culture.
Proposition 2: Organizational structure is a factor that
facilitates and inhibits the building of a collaborative culture.
Proposition 3: An organization’s ability to search and transfer knowledge is both a facilitator and inhibitor to the building of a collaborative culture
