- In the Netherlands, approximately 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every
year. Due to improvement of treatment, combining surgery, multi-agent
chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, in addition to remarkable advances in supportive
care, survival has increased substantially over the last decades, leading to a rapidly
growing cohort of childhood cancer survivors. Approximately 7000 long-term survivors
of childhood cancer are living in the Netherlands nowadays.
