As aparições marianas constituem um fenômeno religioso de longa duração que envolve milhares de pessoas, assim como instituições, e que não está restrito ao contexto católico, como crê o senso comum, chegando a extrapolar o próprio cristianismo. A partir de pesquisa bibliográfica referente ao conjunto de aparições atribuídas a Maria, ocorridas entre 1968-1971 em uma igreja cristã copta de Zeytoun, então subúrbio do Cairo (Egito), busca-se, em linhas gerais, compará-lo às aparições marianas em contextos católicos e compreender o porquê de tais aparições terem causado comoção na população egípcia, cuja maioria é muçulmana. ABSTRACTThe Marian apparitions constitute a long-standing religious phenomenon involving thousands of people, as well as institutions, which is not restricted to the Catholic context, as common sense believes, even extrapolating Christianity itself. From a bibliographical research on the set of apparitions attributed to Mary, which occurred between 1968-1971 in a Coptic Christian church in Zeytoun, then suburb of Cairo (Egypt), it is generally sought to compare it to the Marian apparitions in Contexts and to understand why such apparitions caused a sensation in the Egyptian population, the majority of whom are Muslims
