DURHAM, N.H. -- The Rev. Robert H. Thompson is
keynote speaker at this year's University of New
Hampshire Communication Sciences and Disorders
annual graduation celebration, Friday, May 18, from 2
to 4 p.m. in the Granite State Room of the Memorial
Union Building.
Rev. Thompson has been singing in choirs and as a
soloist since he was a boy. His repertoire is varied,
covering many standard recital pieces for bass voice,
but he is best known for his presentation of American
music, especially spirituals from the African American
experience. Along with his singing, Rev. Thompson is
known as a public speaker and actor. He has been
Phelps Minister for Phillips Exeter Academy since
1986.
This event is orchestrated by the National Student
Speech Language Hearing Association. The two-hour
program features UNH President Joan Leitzel, Interim
Dean of the School of Health and Human Services
David Pearson, and student and faculty talent.
This year Meghan Libby, an undergraduate student
from Sanbornville will sing, and "The Quintessence," a
UNH woodwind quintet, will play various musical
selections.
Approximately 700 students and family are expected to
attend this event.
