In the past decade, the production of GM products has significantly increased, despite the prevalence of 
non-GM and, organic labeled products simultaneously increasing. For this study, we tested Gafell 
soybean noodles to determine whether a genetic modification exists in the product. The aim of our 
research is to analyze the USDA certified Gafell soy noodles in a manner that shows whether the soy 
used in the product is genuinely organic. First, nptII gene marker will be used to see whether the 
noodles are genetically modified. Then, we will screen for CP4 EPSPS transgenic protein (roundup 
ready), which is the most common herbicide used in soy.  The purpose of this research is to test the 
validity of the USDA certified organic food labels. Many consumers avoid non-GM foods to prevent 
contributing to soil contamination and, the risk of cancer. The USDA certifies that 95% of all organically 
labeled products are valid; however, that leaves a 5% chance of any product being inaccurately labeled. 
Our goal to contest that labeling practices in America should more stringent: given the stark contrast in 
pricing between organic and GM foods.
