Correspondence regarding Horace Kephart collection

Abstract

This 1973 correspondence, from Richard W. Iobst to Glenn Cardwell (Roy Glenn Cardwell, 1930-2016, known as Glenn) concerns the Horace Kephart collection. Horace Kephart (1862-1931) was a noted naturalist, woodsman, journalist, and author and promoter of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.WESTERN CAROLINA UNIVERSITY HUNTER LIBRARY Archives and Special Collections CULLOWHEE, NORTH CAROLINA 28723 March 3, 1975 Mr, Glenn Cardwell Park Technician Great Smoky Mountains National Park Sugarlands Visitor Center Gatlinburg, Tennessee 37738 Dear Glenn: I deeply appreciate your note and the news release which I received last Friday. Of course, I sent the release on to my son immediately. Tell Ruth Ogle that I appreciate what you and she are doing in regard to those materials which you feel would fit better into the W.C.U. Archives. I will be ready to make the transfer. We are currently completing the filing of the entire Kephart Collection by various categories. The correspondence has been filed for some time, and so have the books and the journals; but we are constantly finding additional letters.
