The symptomatic arteriovenous malformation in the head and neck in the adult is an infrequent and potentially fatal disease. The surgical management is described and outcome in a patient diagnosed with cervical arteriovenous malformation who entered at Neurosurgery Ward of “Arnaldo Milán Castro” Hospital. The patient attended the institution because of bilateral cervicobrachial and right lumbosciatic pain for four years that was accompanied by acroparesthesia and marked and progressive weakness of both lower limbs. A nuclear magnetic resonance reported an extramedullary intracranial occupational process at the level of the cervical segment C-6 and C-7, so surgical treatment was decided (a laminectomy and a total exceresis of the lesion were performed). A biopsy sample was taken that reported cervical arteriovenous malformation. Postoperative evolution was satisfactory and continued with follow-up.La malformación arteriovenosa en cabeza y cuello sintomática en el adulto es una enfermedad infrecuente y potencialmente fatal. Se describen el manejo quirúrgico y el resultado en una paciente diagnosticado con malformación arteriovenosa cervical que ingresó en la Sala de Neurocirugía del Hospital “Arnaldo Milán Castro”. La paciente asistió a la institución por dolor cervicobraquial bilateral y lumbociático derecho desde hacía cuatro años que se acompañaba de acroparestesias y debilidad marcada y progresiva de ambos miembros inferiores. Una resonancia magnética nuclear informó un proceso ocupativo intracraneal extramedular a la altura del segmento cervical C-6 y C-7, por lo que se decidió tratamiento quirúrgico (se realizaron una laminectomia y una exceresis total de la lesión). Se tomó muestra para biopsia que informó malformación arteriovenosa cervical. La evolución postoperatoria fue satisfactoria y continúa con seguimiento
