Marcha Mundial de las Mujeres (MMM): activismo en red como factor de integración en América Latina

Abstract

Para el presente ensayo, la investigadora partirá de la premisa de que hoy día el sistema internacional se encuentra sumido en un contexto de cambio profundo, producto de una creciente interdependencia ante el llamado proceso de globalización. Lo cual afecta las reglas del juego, los actores, sus pautas de comportamiento, sus relaciones de poder y sus formas de organización. Ante esta realidad existen nuevos retos. Entre ellos, la necesidad de una mayor cooperación para hacer frente a problemas globales que no se pueden solucionar por las vías estatales tradicionales (Echart, 2008). Internet se encuentra a la vanguardia de estos cambios. Con sólo pulsar un botón, las historias de ámbito local se difunden por todo elmundo. Es en estas circunstancias que aparecen otras fuerzas sociales que rompen con el antiguo esquema de actores internacionales. Dichas fuerzas, a través de la creación deredes ciudadanas globales mediante las tecnologías de información, juegan un rol central en los procesos de cambio (Echart, 2008). Esto abre paso a un interesante crisol de ideas dentro de una sociedad internacional en transformación. Se trata de la emergencia de movimientos ciudadanos a escala mundial, parte de la lucha contra laglobalización neoliberal. La aparición de estos nuevos sujetos se enmarca en el actualdebate sobre la democracia y la participación. Su ejercicio ya no se limita al ámbito estatal o regional, resulta necesario extenderlo a un contexto mucho más amplio.In this essay I propose that today’s international system is submerged in a context of profound changes, product of an interdependent and crescent process called globalization. This affects the rules of the game, the actors, their behavior trends, their power relations and their forms of organization. This new reality consists of new challenges, among them, the need for a greater cooperation to face global problems that cannot be solved only by the state (Echart, 2008). Internet is on the front of these changes. With just a mouse click, local histories can be viewed worldwide. Under these circumstances they appear other social forces that break with the past scenario of international actors. These forces, through the creation of global citynetworks by ICT, play an important role in change processes (Echart, 2008). This allows an interesting set of ideas within an international society in transformation. This will be analyzed throughout the essay.This paper reflects on the emergence of citizen movements that fight neoliberal globalization worldwide. The appearance of these new actors is frame worked in a current debate about democracy and participation. Their exercise is not limited to the state or regional sphere but to a wider context
