Effects of Water Soluble Extract and Bacterial Degradation Products of Diesel Oil on Marine Phytoplankton

Abstract

The primary objective of this research was to provide information on the relative toxicity of diesel oil (No. 2 fuel oil) and the microbial degradation products of this fuel on marine phytoplankton. These organisms comprise an essential element of the marine food web. An assessment o f the effects of oil pollution on the growth and photosynthesis of marine phytoplankton was determined in the laboratory
