A comparative analysis of the relationship between leadership styles and employee loyalty in the Netherlands and the Republic of Croatia

Abstract

Vodstvo i menadžment su predmet brojnih znanstvenih istraživanja u proteklih pedeset godina. Vodstvo je proces u kojem vođa utječe na sljedbenike u svrhu postizanja zajedničkog cilja. Budući da je vodstvo uključuje utjecanje na sljedbenike, odnosno da uključuje sljedbeništvo, vođe moraju razviti određene vještine kako bi to postigli. U teoriji vodstva postoji mnogo različitih stilova, te mnogo različitih teorija vodstva. Neke od teorija vodstva su smatrale kako se vođe rađaju s određenim osobinama, međutim to mišljenje je danas sve manje zastupljeno. Brojna znanstvena istraživanja su pokazala kako su najefikasniji stilovi vodstva oni u kojima vođa odnosno menadžer zaposlene uključuje u zadatke kao i odlučivanje, te s njima komunicira kao s ravnopravnim partnerima ali ih motivira i osnažuje. Ljudi su ključan potencijal svake organizacije, jedinstveni su, ne mogu se kopirati, te se kao takvi danas smatraju jednom od najvećih strateških prednosti koje poduzeće može imati. Kvalitetni, lojalni i motivirani zaposlenici su ključni za uspjeh svakog poduzeća. Odanost organizaciji uz zadovoljstvo i zaokupljenost poslom je među najčešće ispitivanim stavovima prema radu i organizaciji. Svrha pisanja ovog diplomskog rada je prikazati kako stil vodstva utječe na lojalnost zaposlenika u dvije države, Nizozemskoj i Republici Hrvatskoj. Empirijsko istraživanje je provedeno putem anketnog upitnika napravljenog u Google obrascu. Upitnik je podijeljen u tri dijela, prvo dio su opća pitanja, drugo dio su pitanja koja su ispitivala lojalnost zaposlenika, a treći dio se odnosi na ispitivanje stilova vodstva.Leadership and management have been the subject of much scientific research in the last fifty years. Leadership is the process in which a leader influences followers for the purpose of achieving a common goal. Because leadership involves influencing followers, that is, it involves followership, leaders need to develop certain skills to achieve this. There are many different styles in leadership theory and many different leadership theories. Some leadership theories have stated that leaders are born with certain traits, but this opinion is less and less prevalent today. Numerous scientific studies have shown that the most effective leadership styles are those in which the leader or manager involves the employee in tasks as well as decision making, and communicates with them as equal partners, while motivating and empowering them. People are the key potential of every organization, they are unique, they cannot be copied, and as such, today they are considered one of the greatest strategic advantages that a company can have. Quality, loyal and motivated employees are key to the success of any business. Loyalty to an organization, along with satisfaction and dedication to work is among the most commonly researched attitudes toward work and organization. The purpose of this thesis is to show how leadership style influences employee loyalty in two countries, the Netherlands and the Republic of Croatia. The empirical research was conducted using a questionnaire created in a Google form. The questionnaire is divided into three parts, the first part are general questions, in the second part are the questions that examined employee loyalty, and the third part is about examining leadership styles
