Organization of the transport system in mountainous areas - Comparison - Croatia and Austria (Styria)

Abstract

Uloga prometnog planiranja neke države važna je komponenta gospodarstva. Nerazvijenost istog onemogućuje planiranje i investiranje u prometni sustav. The role of transport planning in some countries is an important component of the economy. Underdevelopment of the same prevents planning and research of the transport system. Traffic planning in mountainous areas is extremely demanding due to the geographical location of the mentioned areas. A key element in the development of the transport system in a mountainous environment is the integration into the transport network with another region of the country. The main objective of the paper is to present and compare the current situation in the organization of the transport system in mountainous areas in Croatia, which later developed in relation to the mountainous area in Styria. The political structure and inefficiency of local self-government brought to the Brcko-plan area in economically less developed parts of the country, and reconstructions are much needed for the population to remain in the area. As the main results of the research, they have concluded that the transport system is inefficient and underdeveloped in transport planned Croatia in relation to Austria, which is certainly a consequence of the political situation in the country and the consequences of the Homeland War.
