DMS takes these policiesvery seriously and enforces them strictly.Grading Policy: The final grade in this course will be determined as follows:Homework 15%Quizzes 15%Common Midterm Exam I 15%Common Midterm Exam II 20%Final Exam 35%Your final letter grade will be based on the following tentative curve.A 90 - 100 C 65 - 74B+ 85 - 89 D 55 - 64B 80 - 84 F 0 - 54C+ 75 - 79Attendance Policy: Attendance at all classes will be recorded and is mandatory. Please make sure you read andfully understand the Math Department’s Attendance Policy. This policy will be strictly enforced. Students areexpected to attend class. Each class is a learning experience that cannot be replicated through simply “gettingthe notes.” Attendance at all classes (both lecture and recitation) will be recorded and is mandatory.Homework Policy: Homework is an expectation of the course. All homework for the semester is on the syllabus,by section, below. It is essential to hand in homework on time. Late homework will be assessed at a 50%penalty.Online Homework: Online Homework assignments are to be completed using the homework portal calledWebAssign. The online assignments can be completed at www.webassign.net. You must purchase webassignonline to get the initial access code to get into the class. In addition, on the first day of class your courseinstructor will give an additional code “Class key” needed to enroll to WebAssign. WebAssign gives you freeaccess for two weeks after the start of class so there should be no delay in creating and registering youraccount.Quiz Policy: As per each instructor, quizzes will be given throughout the semester. They will be based on thelecture, homework and the in-class discussions. There will be 6-10 assessments given throughout the semester.Exams: There will be two common midterm exams held during the semester and one comprehensive commonfinal exam. Each exam will test the material taught since the beginning of the semester. Exams are held on thefollowing days:Common Midterm Exam I October 2, 2019Common Midterm Exam II November 13, 2019Final Exam Period December 14 - 20, 2019The time of the midterm exams is 4:15-5:40 PM for daytime students and 5:45-7:10 PM for evening students.The final exam will test your knowledge of all the course material taught in the entire course. Make sure youread and fully understand the Math Department's Examination Policy.
