Application of remote sensing in monitoring burnt areas in Adriatic Croatia

Abstract

U ovom radu je na temelju Landsat snimka izrađen skup podataka koji prostorno i vremenski opisuje sva opožarena područja Jadranske Hrvatske u razdoblju od 1. svibnja do 30. listopada za svaku godinu u razdoblju od 1985. do 2018. Nakon utvrđivanja metodologije obrade i klasifikacije podataka na temelju spektralnih karakteristika opožarenih područja, analizirana su opožarena područja prema zemljišnom pokrovu, administrativnim jedinicama, reljefu i klimatskim elementima. Također je određena međusezonska i unutarsezonska varijabilnost pojave opožarenih područja. Dobiveni rezultati su uspoređeni s terenskom procjenom vatrogasaca te s FireCCI51 i GABAM klasifikacijama požara.In this thesis spatial and temporal database for burnt areas of Adriatic Croatia was developed for period between May 1 and October 30 of each year from 1985 to 2018. Methodology for data processing and image classification was developed based on spectral properties of burnt areas. Burnt areas were investigated for different types of land cover, administrative areas, relief and climate elements. Temporal variations of burnt area occurrence between seasons and inside seasons was also investigated. Data generated in this thesis was compared to burnt area assessment given by firefighters as well as FireCCI51 and GABAM burnt area classifications
