This paper has had as objective analyzing the market of distribution of steel to the civil building in the South of Minas Gerais, it is based on the structure-conduct-performance model. It was presented the space distribution of the suppliers of this market, and it was noticed that they follow the dynamics of the mainly cities and road of distribution of the region; they are quite a lot influenced by regions and cities close to other states, like São Paulo. The reason between the indexes CRk calculated, and the index HH, showed a tendency of concentration. Big alterations at the suppliers’ behavior and the coming of companies linked to steel industry have changed the dynamic of the sector, specially regarded to the levels of concentration of the market and to the important economic development of the mesoregion.Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar o mercado de distribuição de aço para construção civil do sul de Minas Gerais, fundamentando-se na modelo de estrutura-condutadesempemho. Foi apresentada a distribuição espacial dos distribuidores desse mercado, e notou-se que obedecem à dinâmica das principais cidades e vias de escoamento da região, sendo inclusive bastante influenciados por regiões e cidades próximas de outros estados, como São Paulo. A razão entre os índices CRk calculados, bem como o índice HH,apresentou uma tendência de concentração. Grandes alterações na conduta dos distribuidores e a entrada de empresas vinculadas às usinas siderúrgicas têm alterado a dinâmica do setor, principalmente em resposta ao grau de concentração do mercado e ao importante desenvolvimento econômico da mesorregião
