From the theoretical and methodological perspective of Critical Genres Analysis (FAIRCLOUGH, 2001; 2003; BAKHTIN, 2003; BONINI, 2010; 2013), this paper analyzes an episode of the tv-interprogram O Sagrado (REDE GLOBO, 2009-2013), highlighting the discursive work carried out by the station related to verbal and non-verbal dimensions of this genre and the implication of that discursive work for settling a discourse about urban violence in Brazil. The study indicates that, through the recontextualization (CHOULIARAKI; FAIRCLOUGH, 1999) of its own media discourse and through the articulation of verbal and non-verbal genre dimensions, Rede Globo settles a discourse according to which urban violence has its origin in slum social groups, and that it strictly results of individual choice. Thus, that discourse legitimate the naturalized relationship between violence and poverty, on the one hand, and erases, on the other hand, the possibility of questioning about other agents involved in the issue.A partir da perspectiva teórico-metodológica da Análise Crítica de Gêneros (FAIRCLOUGH, 2001; 2003; BAKHTIN, 2003 [1952/53]; BONINI, 2010; 2013), o presente artigo analisa um episódio do interprograma O Sagrado (Rede Globo/Brasil), ressaltando o trabalho discursivo da emissora sobre as dimensões verbal e não verbal do gênero em questão e sua implicação para a sedimentação de um discurso sobre a violência urbana. Os dados apontam que, por meio, principalmente, da recontextualização (CHOULIARAKI; FAIRCLOUGH, 1999) do discurso da própria mídia e do ordenamento das dimensões verbal e não verbal, sedimenta-se um discurso segundo o qual a violência urbana tem sua origem em grupos sociais oriundos das favelas brasileiras, sendo que estes assim agiriam por uma escolha estritamente individual. Dessa forma, tal discursivização legitima, contraditoriamente, a naturalização da relação entre violência e pobreza, por um lado, e apaga, por outro, a possibilidade de problematização acerca de outros agentes envolvidos no assunto em pauta
