REVIEW OF THE PROJECT'S SUCCESS IN MEETING THE STATED OBJECTIVES From the proposal:  The primary objective is to showcase the river as natural resource and recreational asset in support of: a) ongoing community efforts to revitalize riverfronts; b) recent efforts by industry, land trusts, and communities to increase hand carry boat access; c) ongoing efforts by agencies, industry, and NGOs to restore anadromous species to the river; and, d) recent work by local land trusts and towns to develop a regional set of land conservation priorities for the watershed.  The map/guide will build upon and incorporate existing regional recreational assets such as the Sebago to the Sea trail. Map design, layout, and overall conceptual design was provided by the Center for Community GIS and lead by Stephen Engle.  Map content was written and revised by CBEP Program Manager Matt Craig, with guidance and feedback provided over the course of several meetings, emails, and phone calls with local stakeholders, including representatives of the Presumpscot River Watershed Coalition, Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry, the City of Westbrook, the Town of Windham, the Town of Falmouth, SAPPI, Portland Trails, Presumpscot Regional Land Trust, Presumpscot River Watch (PRW), Friends of the Presumpscot River, Falmouth Land Trust, Windham Land Trust, University of Southern Maine Glickman Library, Maine Rivers, Maine Trail Finder, Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District, Sebago Trails Paddling Company, Portland Paddle, private landowners, and others.  PRW’s Guide to the Presumpscot River:  Its History, Ecology, and Recreational Uses, published in 1994 and co‐authored by Amy MacDonald, Brian Butler, and Chris Ricardi, served as a primary source of information about the river and its paddling routes.  With the printing of 2,000 waterproof, durable, fold‐up copies of the Presumpscot River Paddling Map & Guide, the project objective was reached.  CBEP staff are in the process of distributing hard copies of the guides at no charge to the participating partners and their membership.  Guides will also be distributed to attendees at the upcoming State of the Bay conference on 10/13/2015, and later this fall, distributed to local libraries.  The general public will be able to receive copies free of charge by contacting CBEP. 2. DETAILED ACCOUNTING OF HOW MAINE OUTDOOR HERITAGE FUND MONIES WERE SPENT See attached financial report. 3. DETAILED ACCOUNTING OF IN‐KIND SERVICES An additional $1,000 in‐kind is provided by the Center for Community GIS, for costs associated with developing the map and developing a Presumpscot River Water Trail on Maine Trail Finder. 5. IDENTIFICATION OF COMMUNICATION EFFORTS INCLUDING ANY PRESS RELATED MATERIALS. The Guide has been posted on the CBEP web site, and will be posted on the web site of the Presumpscot River Watershed Coalition as well as CBEP’s Facebook page.  Partners have been invited to link to the web site to expand access to online content.  At least one partner, the Town of Windham, requested a digital version to post on the town’s web site.  The Guide will generally be available at numerous locations to the public, including Maine Audubon, the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust’s annual meeting, the Town of Falmouth recreation department, two commercial paddling outfitting companies, and distributed to an approximate 200 attendees at CBEP’s State of the Bay conference in October.  As local press coverage occurs, stories/coverage will be forwarded to MOHF on an ongoing basis.   6.
