Abstract
Physical fitness can influence academic achievement by improve thinking ability and learning concentration of school children.The study was conducted to analyzed the relationship between physical fitness and academic achievement in school children.Observational analitics used cross sectional design. Ninety five children at SDN Tegalgede 01 Jember used as research subjectswith purposive sampling. The physical fitness was analyzed from the 20-m shuttle run test. Academic achievement was assessedusing school-wide exam scores in Mathematics, Indonesian Language, and Natural Science. Then, the data was collected andanalyzed using Chi Square. The result showed that fit children (66,3%) more than not fit children. The proportion goodacademic achievement found in a fit child more than not fit child (96,8%). The physical fitness have associated significantly withacademic achievement in children (p=0,04). A not fit child was 5.6 times less academic achievement compared to a fit child.
