259JAHR  Vol. 10/1  No. 19  2019Fritz Jahr AwardProfessor Michael Cheng-tek Tai (Taiwan) – the Winner of the 4th Annual Fritz Jahr International Award for Research and Promotion of European Bioethics, 2019Professor Michael Cheng-tek Tai from Taiwan was awarded 4th Annual “Fritz Jahr” International Award for Research and Promotion of European Bioethics by the Fritz Jahr Documentation and Research Centre for European Bioethics at the Faculty of Health Studies, University of Rijeka and the Centre of Research Excellence for Integrative Bioethics at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. The official award ceremony was held on May 17th, 2019 at the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka, Croatia. The prize was awarded to Professor Tai by Professor Amir Muzur, Director of the Fritz Jahr Centre. The day before Professor Tai participated in the traditional scientific event Rijeka Days of Bioethics organized by the Department of Social Sciences and Medical Humanities of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Rijeka. This year the conference was 260JAHR  Vol. 10/1  No. 19  2019entitled Urban Bioethics: From Smart to Living Cities. Bioethical Debate, Reflections and Standards. A few days later, during the 18th Lošinj Days of Bioethics in Mali Lošinj, Croatia, Professor Michael Cheng-tek Tai was a key note speaker and gave the plenary lecture The Three Aspects of Integrative Bioethics from the Perspectives of Fritz Jahr’s Bioethical Imperative and Asian Bioethics.Professor Michael Cheng-tek Tai holds a PhD in Comparative Ethics from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He was a Professor of Comparative Ethics at the College of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada and since his return to Taiwan in 1997 he holds a Chair of Professor of Bioethics and Medical Humanities at Chungshan Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan. He was a President of the ‘International Society of Clinical Bioethics’ in the period from 2006 to 2010.Since the discovery of Fritz Jahr, Tai has enthusiastically and passionately promoted Jahr’s bioethics in Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan. Among his main publications is“The Way of Asian Bioethics’, 2008, where he reviews the various Asian traditions of Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, Shintoism and brings them into a dialogue with Western thought in the understanding of Fritz Jahr.  Professor Tai is the founding editor-in-chief of the ‘Formosan Journal of Medical Humanities’, also a member of the editorial boards of ‘Journal of Medical Ethics’ (United Kingdom), ‘Medicine and Philosophy’ (PR China), ‘Tzu Chi Medical Journal’ (Taiwan), and of the Advisory Board of ‘Jahr – European Journal of Bioethics’ (Croatia). Robert Doričić
