TRILLING, Lawrence Radia-tion Laboratory, Berkeley.--A study of the reactions1 J{+P ~ pn:+n:+J{- (15 000 events) and J{+P ~ pJ{+rt+J{-rco (16 000 events) has been made using a separated J{+ beam at the Bevatron with momenta spanning the·interval 3.7-4.0 GeV/c. The exposure intheLRL 72-inch hydrogen bubble chamber of 180 000 pictures has yielded 3000 p0 6,++ and 2000 aP6,++ events. We find' that poo( dO'; dt) dominates both reaction cross sections, implying for the ru°6,T+ reaction the importance of amplitudes other than those expected from the leading Regge singularity (for the ru°6,++ reaction the p trajectory). ,The decay distributions as functions of t' (= t - tmin) are shown to be rich in structurej e.g., dips in poo(da/dt) near t' = 0 and t' = -0.18 {GeV/c)2 are found for the a:P6,++ reaction, and a dip in at = (Pl 1 + PI _1)/2 near t' = -0.2 appears in the p06,++ reacti6n.
