Abstract
Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian (1869-1955). Magnate del petróleo, Coleccionista,
Mecenas y Filántropo, creó una amplia colección de Arte y dispuso las pautas para la
creación de una Fundación entorno a su colección y al mecenazgo y protección de la
cultura. Nació dentro de los confines del antiguo Imperio Otomano y era de origen
armenio. Tanto él como su familia siempre estuvieron vinculados a Armenia, ayudando y
protegiendo su patrimonio y cultura. Importante también es la relación que Calouste y su
familia mantuvieron con la ciudad de Jerusalén. Numerosas son las actuaciones de
Calouste en Jerusalen, entre ellas resalta el apoyo a la creación de una Biblioteca conocida
como la Biblioteca Gulbenkian que honra la memoria del patriarca armenio Yeghishe
